In October 2012 I was offered a transfer to Northern Virginia with the company I work for, after accepting the position I contacted a college friend who lived in the DC area and asked him for any realtor contacts in the area that he was aware of or experience with. So, I took his advice I figured why not give her a call... This turned out to be the best decision I could have made, from the initial phone call until final closing she stayed in close contact with me asking strong questions to ensure the house I bought was exactly what I was looking for. On a tight timeline with a job transfer Katrina made herself available for quick last minute visits to accommodate my hectic travel schedule. After house visits, Katrina would take all of my follow-up questions and would have replies waiting for me the next day. Along with this, when I sent questions about properties Katrina would reply quickly stating either the answer to my question or when she expected to be able to answer (if she needed to contact the sellers agent). This type of customer service is something that I valued very highly in Katrina.
Lastly, and most importantly Katrina is an absolute pleasure to be around, she loves what she does and it makes the home buying process an enjoyable one. If you are moving to the area, don't look any further pick up the phone and call Katrina!

Katrina has been a wonderful resource, friend, and advocate during our first experience as home buyers. At our initial meeting, Katrina provided us with all the information that we needed to purchase a home, and then, she patiently repeated that information as many times as we needed throughout the process. She also recommended various lenders (the one we chose turned out to be awesome) and was prepared with recommendations for contractors and title companies. Each time we met with Katrina, I was impressed with her punctuality, organization, and attention to detail.
Katrina was also incredibly responsive. Both of us are professionals and at times we could only work on our home search after business hours. Katrina never batted an eye and almost always responded to our texts and emails within one or two hours, even late at night or on the weekend. Despite the incredible damage and power outages that the area suffered after intense storms, Katrina went out of her way to contact us and give us updates on her communication status and our house search.
At first, we were unclear on what we needed in a home. Katrina helped us narrow our options during each outing until we knew that we had found the perfect house for us. She was a fantastic third eye when we viewed potential homes and was quick to point out any potential problems or important considerations. She often spotted issues that neither of us noticed and then drew upon her wealth of experience to provide us with a clear picture of what we could expect if we chose a particular house.
From making our first offer through (and after) closing, Katrina reassured us and provided us with timely notes and reminders for each step we needed to complete. In short, Katrina made would could have been a very stressful experience painless and easy. We enjoyed her company and are incredibly happy with our new home. My husband and I were in the market to purchase a condo in Washington, DC, when my husband accepted a job there. Being from New Jersey, I reached out to my local realtor who recommended Katrina Schymik. From our very first phone conversation, I knew Katrina was a great recommendation. She really listened to our needs, and was immediately able to send me listings via email to review. She was always very professional and efficient, as well as friendly. As we went through the process, our needs changed, and she was very patient with supplying me with new listings to meet my requirements. When the time came to take a trip to DC to see the properties, she had all the print outs organized and we saw 14 properties in two days! We found one that we decided to buy, and she helped us through the whole closing process, even supplying a accordion file for all of our documents. Her helpfulness did not end at closing. Before hiring Katrina, my house sat on the market without even a contract offer for four months. Once I hired Katrina to represent me the level of service and market sophistication I received was far superior to any other buyers or listing agents I have worked with in the past – a total of nine agents from previous real estate transactions.
Katrina single-handedly helped increase the selling price of my house by $85,000. Without her guidance and expertise in the real estate market I would not have realized this gain. Not only did she help me navigate market risks and opportunities, but as I was an out-of-state owner, she also acted as the hands-on leader coordinating projects at my house to bring it to market, and staging the house with furniture. As first time homebuyers, we didn’t really know what to expect and were a bit apprehensive about the whole process of buying a house – what to look for, how and when to get a loan, what to expect during the close. I couldn’t possibly say enough good things about Katrina Schymik as a Realtor. She was recommended to me after I had a very bad experience with another local Realtor, and initially I came to her with a lot of embedded mistrust and disillusionment about the local real estate scene. She is extremely competent, highly experienced, and has a basic friendliness and caring personality that made me trust her.
